Don B’s Steakhouse is located on the second floor of the Fitzgeralds on Freemont Street. The restaurant offers a nice, quiet atmosphere for a glass of wine. The complimentary breads are very tasty. The servings of wine are very reasonable and are served in a small decanter. We had a great chopped salad. The restaurant is a great respite on Freemont to take a break.
Eastside Cannery

The Eastside Cannery opened a on Boulder Highway a few blocks from Sam’s Town about a month ago. It is very reminiscent of the other Cannery casino with a relatively plain interior and the routine gaming that is offered at Sam’s Town. My wife and I were very excited about the table side buffet concept restaurant, with food served family style. Sweet Lucile’s, since our first visit, has switched food concepts a little (you no longer can choose multiple entrees but choose the ones you want and are charged per entree), and the ordered entrees are served family style at the table. The dessert bar and salad is included with a purchase of any entree.
Gordon Brown

Gordon appears at the V Theatre in the Miracle Mile Mall at Planet Hollywood. We rememberedhis ads when he was at the Venetian and thought we would give the show a try. He trys to be a Danny Gans type show. He has no band at the V Theatre. I am giving him the benefit of the doubt that his songs were better at the Venetian. The songs were unimpressive in the V Theatre. His impressions however were very good and had the audience laughing. He does a very good George Bush. My suggestion for him is to drop all of his songs and build his collection of impersonations, which he seems much better at and gets more audience response from.

The Wyrick Theatre is in the Miracle Mile Mall at Planet Hollywood. The show was very good. There are several tricks that we have not figured out. A helicopter appears on stage as well as an airplane during different parts of the show. Wyrick disappeared during one part of the show and ended up in a row behind us. I have no idea how he got there. This is a good entertaining show with a few “sentamental” moments thrown in.
Hash House A-Go-Go

We had chicken and waffles. There was a large plate with 6 or so bacon filled waffles with two sage fried chicken breasts. It was plenty to share. The food was very good. B+
Sahara Casino

In years past this was my choice of cheap hotels in Vegas. During convention weeks the rate can still be moderate and it’s convenience to the Convention Center make it a decent place to stay. There is nothing exceptional about the hotel rooms. The rooms are of decent size and in my opinion are a much better choice than the Circus Circus. They do have a nice pool area.
The casino has blackjack tables with lower costs per hand, I think $3 is the minimum at some of their tables, it used to be $1. The sports book is tucked in by the check in desk away from the main casino. There is a roller coaster and other video games in the area leading to the buffet.
Restaurants:
NASCAR CAFE – Decent hamburger and an interesting atmosphere with TVs and shells of Nascar cars.
Pacos Bar Grill – Not necessarily one of my favorite Mexican restaurants, but the food was not bad.
Sahara Buffet – One of the cheapest buffets on the strip. It is decent.
The Sahara is walking distance to the Stratosphere and a decent walk to the Circus Circus or Riviera. The monorail also connects to the property and is two stops away from the convention center.

I have visited a couple people who have stayed at the Circus Circus. The rooms are small and are about the quality of a Days Inn, but if you just need a place to sleep, it is usually inexpensive.
There is a merry go round with slot machines on the casino floor.
The casino is right next to Slots Are Fun and across the street from the Rivera. In a couple more years it will be walking distance to Echelon.
Restaurants:
Buffet – There are better buffets in town for the cost.
THE Steak House – Reviewed under the Food category – Excellent – Possibly the best in Vegas
On the upper level of the casino there is a free circus performance stage with frequent shows and carnival games. The Adventure Dome also offers a variety of amusements and video games.

I have not stayed on the property, but I shot a brief interview in one of the rooms. I am assuming it was an upgraded suite (it was on the 18th floor), it had a sitting area with a couple chairs facing a flat screen TV, there was a large bathroom with marble floors and a round bathtub in the center of the room and both the bedroom and bathroom had a wall of windows that looked out on to the strip.
Planet Hollywood has a very large shopping complex (Miracle Mile Shops) that features restaurants, shops and a couple of show theatres.
Restaurants:
PF Changs
Cheeseburger Las Vegas – They have good tropical drinks. They also have a mini hamburger appetizer that is very good.
Ocean One Bar and Grille – They have 3 for 1 drinks at the bar.
You are walking distance from Paris/Ballys and across the street from the Bellagio/City Center.

Wing Lei at the Wynn Las Vegas. We had the Chef Richard Signature Dinner that features seven courses. The meal was a sensational taste experience. At $128 (before drinks), the final price tag is not for those faint of heart, but as an indulgence, this was a great experience. The staff, service and food quality were impeccable and what you would expect from this class of restaurant.
Below is the menu for the Chef Richard Signature Dinner:
Tuna Sashimi 金槍魚刺身
Pickled Jellyfish, Daikon, Snow Peas
Soya Citrus Ponzu Vinaigrette
